I do apologize for taking so long to get this 2^nd= Issue out. It’s been qu= ite a summer. Here a little bit of = new information that I have to share with each of you. We did not have our regularly sche= duled meeting in June due to the 4^th holiday. However, we will plan to have our = July meeting on July 26^th, 2008.&nbs= p; I will email all members the week of the meeting for reminders.

The Legend of the Welsh Caves at = Desoto Falls is very interesting and entertaining. It is a story about a Welsh Prince wh= o is believed by many to have discovered America in 1170, which is ove= r 300 years prior to Christopher Columbus. It is not common knowledge to the aver= age American. It is my hope to teach a few more Americans about this legend. You will definitely enjoy this story, and find yourself looking for more information!

Dear Janice, I have strong reason to believe PROUD VALLEY was shot in the Afan Valley, here in Port Talbot. Paul Robeson was a huge hero to the Welsh Miners, he became involved in the Spanish Civil War.&n= bsp; The American Government took his passport away from him because of his communist sympathies. He addressed the Miners Eisteddfod at Porthcawl by telephone, because he was not allowed to= leave the country. He was the first black American football play= er and graduated from Rutger= s University as a lawyer. I will write with a piece of poetry I wrote about him and I w= ould be thrilled if you would put it on your website. Bee Richards

I have signed the petition despite the fact that I have written a book, The I= ce Journey, which asks the question, Were the first native Americans from Europe? Madoc= probably made the first documented voyage, although Brenan could have beaten him. Whatever there is no reason why you should not have the plaque back.

Archaeology & DNA evidence from the eastern side of USA suggest that small bands of Europeans made the amazing journey across the <= st1:place w:st=3D"on">Atlantic Ocean just after the last great Ice Age. About 16,000 years before Madoc!

There is more on the website. & you might find the attached book review about= the dual language Welsh English version interesting. The book is for children b= ut adults find it very interesting and it is ideal for Welsh language learners. If you are not learning Welsh the Engl= ish only version would be better for you.

I bought my ticket for USA yesterday. I leave on 29th June to stay with my son in Ithaca. Looking for= ward to seeing him & my American grandchildren. I shall be in USA for= my Birthday - 4th July! The 'Welsh Players' as the Island Players affectionately call The Player= s' Theatre of Glamorgan, Wales, UK are to return to The Island Playhouse next month to start off the 60th year= of theatre on the Island. They will bring with them one of t= he most famous of British plays, Oscar Wilde's "The Importance of Being Earnest".

The Welsh Players were here four years ago when they presented the Welsh Poet Dylan Thomas' most famous play "Under Milk Wood". The Welsh Players are delighted to be coming back and are bringing two new faces with them, Gemma Titley = who plays young Cecily and, straight from serving with the Royal Air Force in <= st1:country-region w:st=3D"on">Iraq is Ryan Powell as Lane the Butler to Algernon= Moncrief.

Yes it is August 21st,22nd,23rd &24th that we app= ear at the Mobile Theatre Guild, we were there about 4 years ago with Dylan Tho= mas' "Under MilkWood" and is seems everyone enjoyed it, hence our next visit. We are appearing first down on Anna Maria Island in Florida 15th,16th & 17th August, we have acted there= about 12 times over the past 30 years.

Now, about your parents, we live approximately 12 miles east of Aberdare, so it is a town well known to us, the world is a small place, don't you think? It would give us much pleasure to meet with y'all if you attend one of the performances, in fact we rehearse in a little place called Mountain Ash or Aberpennar = in the Welsh language, which is only 5 miles from Aberdare.

Please do all you can to whistle up support as we are coming 'out of season' as fa= r as theatre in Mobile is concerned - the only time they could fit us in - and as you might imagine in these sad times, the cost of getting to Mobile & Florida for 9 people has been considerable.

Anyway, enough of the negative, we so look forward to meeting you, should you be ab= le to make one of the performances. We might even sing the Welsh National Anth= em after the show for you in Welsh, "Mae Hen Wlad Fy'n Nhadau" 'Dear L= and Of My Fathers' in English, as I'm sure you know.
