This blog contains all things to do with the Alabama Welsh Association.
Welcome to new members from south of England

Bore da Janice,

Sut mae'r tywydd?   it is blowing a gale here on the South Coast of England, very mild for the time of year but wet.

Thank you for the T Shirts, they arrived yesterday.  Babs and I were very pleased with them.

Any Swansea Jacks in your Association - people born in Swansea/Abertawe.   Swansea Jack was a dog who saved a few people from drowing and they know have a bust of his head on a plinth opposite St Helens rugby ground it was there when I was a boy - but people still talk of the dog as if it was yesterday.

Well Hwyl nawr(Bye now), with the festive season upon us Babs and I would like to wish all Memeber of the Alabama Welsh Association a Nadolig LLawen ac Blyddyn Newydd Dda.

Babs and Steve Davies

More from Steve & Babs

Have you ever managed to visit Wales?   A lovely country although denude of heavy industry now that the coal mines and steel works have closed.   Within 5 miles of where I lived in Swansea there were 7 working mines now there are none.

We still have some of the best choirs in the world - my home town choir is the Morriston Orpheus although my favourite is the Treorchy Male Voice.   When both choirs sing our National Anthem - Hen Wlad fy Nhadau I am transported back to Wales - although I left Wales at 17 to join the Army and have never lived there since it is still HOME.

Hwyl am y tro,

Steve and Babs

I was born in Aberporth near Cardigan in south Wales 63 years ago.I have lived in America and raised my family here since i married an American 40years ago.I now live in Hoover Alabama.I do not speak Welsh unfortunatly. My parents did but we grew up in Southampton england where my father was a Professor at the univerity there,so my parents kept the welsh just for talking behind our backs.Welsh Music was a big part of my growing up even in England. My dad sang in every choir around .If you would like to read more about my life please check the web site.www.tresaithcorgis.com

Hello. I'm hoping to mount a production of Under Milkwood here locally. That would be Southern Delaware. Does anyone have any Welsh contacts in this area? Thanks!
